The iconic monster rises from the grave once again. This time, the creation comes out of mind and hands of a skilled B-movie butcher, who has gathered a Penthouse model, a skull drill, explosions of cocaine rush, a soldering iron as well as a sewing kit, a gender swap, and the lowest scum of New York City underbelly on his operating table. This trashy, tongue-in-cheek homage to Frankenstein is often ranked pretty low in the filmography of exploitation artist Frank Henenlotter and with a significant margin behind his debut, Basket Case (1982). However, in terms of perverse humor and blatantly rubber-like effects, Frankenhooker (1990) definitely keeps pace with his cult debut, and as the lady puts her high platform boots on, she mercilessly drags viewers deep into low-life streets of NYC right in the centre of party-loving hookers, ultra-macho pimps, and overly eager customers.
