Assault! Jack the Ripper is a nasty delicacy that pushes the boundaries of studio Nikkatsu’s Violence Porn label. Loosely based on the crimes of Richard Speck, the plot involves two patisserie employees who start a torrid love affair that revolves around murdering women for sexual arousal. The real trouble begins once the pastry chef, whose weapon of choice is a cake knife, starts cheating by killing women without his girlfriend’s participation. Yasuharu Hasebe has made a slick, well photographed piece of depravity. In some circles considered the Citizen Kane of stabbing vagina movies, this sweet little titbit may very well get stuck in your throat.
