Director, screenwriter, cinematographer and producer Roberta Findlay was one of the few female artists who have made a name for themselves in the men-dominated porn and low-budget trash film industry and was even hailed as an auteur. Her films have a distinct female perspective and their plots feature radical premises, which are far from the norm even in the creative golden age of porn. Her variation on Polanski’s Repulsion is a porn slasher mixed with psychological drama. A psychically deranged woman finds refuge in a seaside cottage, but her view of reality gets more and more distorted by her violent hallucinations and dark pathological desires, which she turns into bloody reality.
